Welcome to The Post Grad Times 🎓

Welcome to the first ever newsletter from ✨ The Post Grad Times ✨ ! Hi friends, post-grads, pre-grads, recent grads, and everyone in between. A little bit about me, I am a current (remote) postgraduate student at the London School of Economics & I am studying Global Media & Communications 👩🏽‍🎓 . On a {rare} serious note, I am extremely blessed to have made it thus far and have been tremendously privileged to be a postgraduate student. This e-newsletter is my first ever substack publication, and I am so excited to continue my “post-grad” thoughts! 🤗

What is the Post Grad Times? 🎓

Last month, September 2020, I submitted my dissertation for my master’s program, MSc in Global Media & Communications from the London School of Economics & Political Science. I am due to officially ✨graduate✨ in December 2020, which means I have two more months of mental breakdowns. On second thought, my mental breakdowns will still haunt me after graduation, there’s no escaping those demons 😅. Since submitting my dissertation, life has surprisingly gotten even more hectic (possibly more hectic than my dissertation writing process) 👩🏽‍💻 . I created this newsletter because just like you, I’m figuring it, or at least trying to.

Purpose:

The purpose of this publication is to show you, a post graduate, that you’re not alone. It’s easy to feel isolated during a global pandemic, especially as a recent graduate where resources and jobs are at a time of scarcity. I know I personally felt isolated as I was writing my dissertation from home, and still sometimes do. My goal is to share helpful resources, tips, and insights to help guide you along your postgrad journey. Additionally, I hope to create a virtual community of postgraduates where we discuss the realities, achievements, and confusion of graduating during a year like 2020. Wherever you are in your academic journey, whether you are still attending university, just graduated, or graduated a while back, The Post Grad Times is here for you. Just like Elle Woods in Legally Blonde.

Topics:

The Post Grad Times will discuss the realities of graduating during a pandemic, education during covid, job resources, academic perspectives, research, career guidance, and more!

Thank you for taking the time to read and I hope you stay for the journey!!! (goodness that was cliché 🤦🏽‍♀️).

Sign up now so you don’t miss the first issue 🤓.

In the meantime, tell your friends!
